Staff ProfilesMaidments Solicitors prides itself on the level of expertise it has within its practice. With over forty full time staff members, many of whom have been with Maidments for over 10 years, we would like to introduce you to some of the criminal team :-
Allan Maidment has over 35 years experience in criminal practice having qualified as a Solicitor in 1976. He was a partner of Jones Maidment Wilson 1976 to 1993 and founded Maidments Solicitors in 1993. The firm was incorporated as Maidments Solicitors Limited in 2004.
Ian joined Maidments in 2008 as a senior consultant solicitor specialising in business and corporate fraud, investment, offshore and tax fraud, fraudulent trading, professional misconduct matters, company directors disqualification proceedings, share and security fraud and money laundering. Having been a founding partner at Cooper Kenyon Burrows Solicitors, he brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our practice as a VHCC Supervisor and is a Contracts Appeals Commitee Member.
Shane has over 15 year’s experience of criminal legal practice. He has been a member of staff since the inception of Maidments Solicitors in 1993. He has extensive experience in the detailed preparation of very complex and difficult cases of serious crime and commercial fraud. Shane was admitted as a solicitor in 2004 and has since gained Duty Solicitor status and is a Supervisor for the firms franchise granted under the Legal Services Commission. He heads our North West Crown Court department providing direction and guidance to other members of staff within the team. He is based at our Sale office which he manages for the firm. Shane has enjoyed a wide-ranging case experience from murder to international drug trafficking cases, as well as very high cost case fraud work.
Anna was called to the Bar in 1994 and joined London Chambers undertaking predominantly criminal work for both the prosecution and defence. In 2001 she joined the firm in Manchester as In-House Counsel. Anna undertakes the full range of criminal defence work in the Crown Court. Her extensive experience includes representation in cases of murder, serious assault, sexual offences, drug offences, robbery and serious fraud. Anna has appeared as Junior Counsel in matters prosecuted by the Serious Fraud Office and in many high profile cases, many of which received national press coverage. She presents in-house training at the practice and is a valuable source of advice and wise Counsel to other members of the firm.
Natalie has worked in the field of criminal law since 1994. She joined Maidments Birmingham office in 1997, becoming a Police Station Accredited representative in 1998. She obtained her Fellowship of the Institute of Legal Executives in 2002 and notably was the only person in the country to obtain a distinction in Ilex Criminal Practice. Natalie has since gone on to qualify as a Solicitor in 2006, receiving a ‘Certificate of Outstanding Performance’ from the Law Society for her Legal Practice Course qualification. Apart from undertaking advice and representation in a wide range of criminal cases in the Police Station and Magistrates Court, Natalie focuses on the preparation of cases of serious crime and commercial fraud in respect of Crown Court proceedings.
Nick joined the practice in 1997, having worked previously at the Crown Prosecution Service. He undertook his Training Contract with the firm and qualified as a Solicitor in 2003. He is a Franchise Supervisor and Duty Solicitor. He is predominantly involved in all aspects of Criminal Defence, representing client's at Police Stations, advocating at Magistrates Courts and preparing Crown Court cases. Nick has substantial experience in defending clients charged with the most serious of cases, such as Murder, Gang related Conspiracies, Firearms, Drugs importation/supply and Serious Fraud. He has extensive experience in preparing cases involving the use of new technology such as cloning and skimming of credit cards, identity theft and fraud perpetrated over the internet. He is currently based at our Sale office but undertakes appointments with client's wheresoever they are required.
Jane has over 15 years experience in legal practice and qualified as a solicitor in 1996, joining the firm in 1997 when our Bolton office opened. Jane is the senior solicitor at the Bolton office and she has worked tirelessly to develop our practice in Bolton and the North West having established a substantial reputation for both herself and the firm in criminal practice. She is a Duty Solicitor and Supervisor for the firms franchise from the Legal Services Commission. She has attained her Higher Court Rights of Audience enabling her to practise in the Magistrates Court, Crown Court and Appeal Courts. Jane has a wide range of experience in criminal cases, including general crime as well as cases of serious crime and commercial fraud.
Mahan started in criminal legal practice in 1985 joining the firm of McGrath & Co in Birmingham where he worked on the preparation of cases before the Crown Court. He joined Maidments Solicitors Limited in 1997 and was admitted as a Solicitor in 2001. Mahan is the senior solicitor and manager of our Birmingham office. He has been responsible for the successful development of our practice in Birmingham since the office opened in 1997. He has a considerable experience in the preparation of the defence in cases of serious crime and commercial fraud, including cases prosecuted by the Serious Fraud Office. Mahan is a Duty Solicitor and Supervisor for the Legal Services Commission. He has also attained his Higher Court Rights of Audience enabling him to practice in the Magistrates Court, Crown Court and Appeal Courts.
Martin was admitted as a Solicitor in 2001, joining the firm in 2003. He has gained very extensive experience of Police Station and Magistrates Court representation throughout the country. Martin has a significant reputation as a skilled advocate with particular expertise in the representation of young persons. He has acted in many complex and serious matters which have received national press coverage. Martin has represented clients in almost thirty murder, attempted murder and manslaughter related cases, as well as having expereince of dealing with clients who have been arrested in relation to armed robebries, terrorism, blackmail and rape.. |
